Delapre Abbey is located approximately 20 miles (around 32 kilometres) southwest of Barton Hall, making for a straightforward drive of about 30 to 35 minutes. To reach the Abbey, join the A14 westbound from Kettering, then merge onto the A43 heading south towards Northampton. Connect onto the A45 west, then take the exit for the A508 (London Road) towards Milton Keynes. Follow the signs for Delapre Abbey, where the entrance driveway will be on your left, set amidst scenic parkland.

What is the history of Delapre Abbey?
Delapre Abbey has a rich history spanning nearly 900 years. Originally founded as a Cluniac nunnery around 1145, it was later converted into a grand private country home following the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1538. Most famously, its surrounding grounds served as the battlefield for the Battle of Northampton in 1460 during the Wars of the Roses, where King Henry VI was captured. Over the centuries, the estate underwent several architectural transformations, culminating in its recent restoration as a vibrant public museum and heritage attraction.
